Candidate for GRAND PRIX 2024 in CSR category – Propulsion - Nova Pismenost
During this year's Gala evening, which will take place on April 23rd, we will organize the traditional Grand Prix CCIFS awards ceremony
Propulsion's multi-year CSR program Nova Pismenost aims to enhance media, information, and digital literacy across Serbia. It continuously works with children, teachers, parents, the elderly, businesses, media, influencers, public administration, and academia with the goal of ultimately creating a digitally literate and responsible society.
Nova Pismenost utilizes a blend of funds, strategic partnerships, and a vast network of experts and collaborators. It works with the Government, international organizations, and private sector partners. This mix of internal and external resources enables the successful implementation, extensive reach of the project's initiatives and creating a competitive market framework, profoundly impacting Serbia's digital literacy landscape.
Nova Pismenost’s grant scheme includes the Digital Expedition Challenge, encouraging schools to develop innovative digital solutions, directly supporting the education system; the Dragan Janjic Award, administered in collaboration with the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia, promotes excellence in media literacy among journalists; and a grant to the Corporate Compliance Association, focusing on developing an ethical code of conduct for businesses, reinforcing responsible corporate behavior in the digital media sector. The program also features the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, providing technical assistance and emphasizing the importance of personal data protection for children.
The Influence Academy stream targets social media influencers and their audiences, providing education on responsible content creation and self-regulation mechanisms. This initiative reaches a notable engagement, fostering a responsible approach to digital content among influencers.
Several impactful campaigns have been launched, including the New Year, New Literacy campaign and the Media Literacy Handbook for Parents, to further extend Nova Pismenost's reach, targeting parents and children with critical digital literacy messages. These campaigns, endorsed by the Serbian Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM), successfully reach a significant portion of the population.
In 2023, Nova Pismenost made significant strides: hosting 29 events and educating 57,282 attendees, awarding USD 14,885 in grants, and making 441 media appearances. Endorsed three times by REM, our TV campaigns reached over 9.5 million people, with a social media impact touching another 8 million. All this was achieved with an investment of around USD 580,000 in 2023, marking a landmark year in advancing digital literacy.
