Candidate for GRAND PRIX 2025 in the GREEN category – BexExpress – Green Solution for Logistic Systems
During this year's Gala evening, which will take place on March 20, we will organize the traditional Grand Prix CCIFS awards ceremony.
The "Green Solution for Logistic Systems" project was launched with the goal of improving the efficiency of the business-logistics system towards complete sustainability, independence, and reliance on green energy. To achieve this goal, it was necessary to begin the process of building solar power plants and procuring electric batteries for energy storage. In the third year of the project, we succeeded in procuring 363 electric vehicles, which make up 48% of our fleet, utilizing the vehicles in the field, thus rationalizing energy costs by 20%, installing solar power plants with a current capacity of 800 kW, and procuring an energy storage battery with a capacity of 1 MWh.
The project has two main goals:
- Development of a sustainable logistics business system
- Creation of a green fund through cost rationalization to support civil society organizations
Looking at the first goal in the field of green energy, it involves planning and executing a series of activities involving everyone: communication with suppliers regarding the purchase of electric vehicles, solar panels, energy storage batteries, and other equipment, with support from finance and legal departments, the human resources department handling recruitment, selection, and development of professional staff to lead and develop the process, and the marketing department sharing important information with the business community and the wider public. Through the synergistic effect of all relevant stakeholders, the following green project goals are being achieved:
- Utilization of renewable energy sources in the business system
- Optimization
- Increased energy independence
- Formation of a green fund to support civil society organizations (partners: Nurdor, Čepom do osmeha)
- Highlighting good practices in the use of green energy and stimulating the broader community to engage in dialogue and change awareness
The project is divided into four phases, with a review of progress and complete monitoring conducted after each phase:
- Phase 1: Planning and design, consulting, and engaging partner agencies from European countries (Netherlands and Romania) and worldwide (China)
- Phase 2: Planning and realization of procurements (electric vehicles, solar power plants, and energy storage batteries), as well as strengthening the teams involved in analytics, logistics, and fleet management
- Phase 3: Installation of equipment and monitoring results in the logistics distribution network
- Phase 4: Continuous optimization and increasing the capacity of electric vehicles and solar power plants
The results achieved so far are reflected in the following:
- Rationalization of energy costs by 20% through the gradual replacement of diesel vehicles with electric ones
- Reduced carbon dioxide emissions
- Optimized electricity consumption (using solar energy during the day and storing excess for nighttime use; avoiding expensive tariffs)
- Increased energy independence (reduced reliance on the electricity distribution network; ensuring stable power for 180 electric vehicles at any given time)
- More efficient charging of electric vehicles
- Expanded solar power plant capacities to 800 kW, with a target of 2 MW by the end of 2025.
